PATIENTS WITH DISC HERNIATION
A significant number of patients who present with a disc herniation often describe a prior history of prodromal back pain. They may attribute their symptoms to a past episode of trauma, which may not necessarily be related to the underlying pathology. However, certain specific activities that the patient mentions as preceding their symptoms can be noteworthy and help guide the clinician towards a diagnosis of a herniated disc. These activities may include sudden twisting or jerking movements, lifting heavy weights, or experiencing falls. Patients with disc herniation are great candidates for our Spinal Decompression Program, read the benefits here.

Radicular Pain
Commonly described as electric shock-like or searing, radicular pain follows the path of the spinal nerve as it exits the spinal canal. This type of pain is caused by compression and/or inflammation to a spinal nerve root. In the lower back (lumbar spine), radicular pain may travel into the leg.
